Luwana Lura Owens

Luwana Lura Owens, 90, a resident of Benton, TN and formerly of Greasy Creek passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018.  She loved to quilt, watch her garden grow, humming birds and word search books. Her “grands” were the love of her life and she brightened up when they came to visit.  She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend George Andrew Owens; daughters, Cecilia Murray and Kay Green; son, Johnny Owens; parents, Julius and Ethel Rymer; sisters, Charmie Johnson; brothers, Author Rymer and Eugene Rymer.    

She is survived by her children, Gilbert and Brenda Owens of Chattanooga, TN, Becky and Terry Calhoun of Benton, TN; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Pat Owens; son-in-law, Ron Green; sisters, Kay Harper, Shirlene Nicholson, Phyllis Morris, Glenda Smith; brother, Garland Rymer;  Several nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Green officiating.  Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.  A white dove ceremony will conclude the service.    

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the funeral home prior to the service.
