Vernette M. Taylor

Vernette M. Taylor, 79, a resident of Reliance, TN took her final steps and said “I’m going home” on Monday, December 11, 2017 at a Chattanooga hospital.  She loved her grandchildren with all her heart and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.  She retired from Rubbermaid, worked for the U. S. Forest Service, drove a school bus and worked at the Pink Pig in Blue Ridge, GA. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Taylor; infant son, John Everett Taylor; parents, Rev. George and Sylvia Cochran; sisters, Ruth Deal, Katherine Bowens, Virginia Ledford; brother, James Cochran. 

She is survived by her children, Roy Lee and Jenny Taylor, Floyd and Ruth Ann Taylor, Jerry Taylor; grandchildren, Alex, Justin (Candace), Lucas and Logan (April) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Eli, Colby, Kinsley, Kali and Klover Taylor; sisters; Vivian (J.C.) Cheatham and Izetta (Robert) Chesser; several nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.

The family extends a special “THANK YOU” to Dr. Powers and Dr. Bachia. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN with Reverend Terry Daniel officiating.  Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.   A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the funeral home prior to the service. 

Pallbearers will be Justin, Alex, Lucas, Logan and Colby Taylor and McKinley Sosebee.
