David Evans, 71, of Benton, TN went home to be with the Lord October 30, 2017 in a local hospital surrounded by family and friends. David was a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Marines during the Vietnam War, was a member of Ocoee Lodge 212 and retired from Maytag after 40 years. David loved fishing, watching Nasar and watching ballgames but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is the son of Tim and Louise Evans. He was preceded in death by his father, Tim Evans; brother, Marion “Cotton” Evans and sister, Helen Wilcoxon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Evans; children, Randy Evans, Sabrina Evans of Benton and Stacy (Mark) McDonald of Seminole, FL; step-daughter, Tammy (A. J.) Piper; grandchildren, Jake Evans, Aaron Ysidro, Alyssa Ysidro, Anna Spurlin and Melina Spurlin; great-grandchildren, Huddie Ysidro and Indica Ysidro; mother, Louise Evans; mother-in-law, Wilma Carroll; sister, Tanna Evans; sister-in-law, Connie Evans and brother-in-law, Sterling Wilcoxon. Several special nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN with the Reverend Carl Haulk and Reverend Earl Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN. A Masonic service will be at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the end of visitation.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mo Moses, Randy Evans, Jake Evans, Aaron Ysidro, Jimmy Renner, A. J. Piper and Tim Smith.
