Jefferey “Scott” Cearley, age 46, of Benton, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016. Born on October 8, 1970 to Steve and Judy Long Cearley, he was a native and lifelong resident of Polk County. Scott was a member of Chestuee Worship Center where he served as a deacon. Scott was called to preach in 2003 and spoke at various services and engagements over the years and was a counselor at the Overcomers Outreach Ministry. He was an avid cook, enjoyed going to car shows, witnessing to people for the Lord and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Kate Long; paternal grandparents, Randall and Lorene Cearley, and uncle, Charles Long. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Rayven Green and husband Alex of Cleveland, Devan Scott Cearley of Benton; sister, Beth Rodgers and husband Keith of Benton; and special friend, Jason Woods of Cleveland. A large extended family and many brothers and sisters in Christ also survive. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Kent Hulvey and Dr. Nathan Chamberlain and their staff for their compassionate care and friendship. A Celebration of Life and Home going for Scott Cearley will be held at 2p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 at Chestuee Worship Center with Pastor Samuel Burger and Pastor Nick Herron officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 5-8p.m. on Sunday, October 23,2016 at the funeral home and again from 1-2p.m. on Monday at the church.
