Opal Morgan Cross

April 8, 1923 — February 14, 2015

Opal Cross, 91, a native and lifelong resident of Polk County passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at her residence. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her husband, Thad Cross; parents, Bert and Daisy Haulk Morgan; daughters, Kathleen Lee and Patsy Morgan; brothers, Norris and L. B. Morgan; sister, Viola Cronan. She is survived by her children: Opal Dean (David) Farris, Faye (Joe) Bain, Linda (Tom) Blackwell, Gene (Shelia) Cross all of Benton, TN, Mary (Ray) Ingram of Etowah,TN; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Chastain officiating. Interment will follow at Brock-Mt. View Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Billy Ingram, Pete Morgan, Chad Cross, Korey Dockery, Daniel Farris and Ricky Butler. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Ingram and Richard Bain.
