Willie L. Brackett, 94, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at his residence. He was a World War II Veteran and the son of a Baptist minister. He worked until the age of 92 and said that contributed to his longevity. He was a Department Head at Burlington Woolen Mills until it closed. He then moved to North Carolina and worked until the age of 69, returned to Tennessee and worked with S&S Rock until he finally retired at the age of 92. He was an avid gardener. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and neighbor always helping anyway he could. He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Etta Silver Brackett; wife, Edna Stafford Brackett; son Larry E. Brackett; grandson, Larry Christopher Brackett; brothers, J.P. Brackett, Herbert Brackett; sister, Gladys Brackett Ellis. He is survived by his children Sandra (Bobby) Hackney, Willie L. (Linda) Brackett, Jr., Deborah Blackwell; brother, John Roy Brackett; sister, Leoma Brock; grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Steven Hackney, Donna Goins, Jennifer Goza, Tammy Brackett, Shane Brackett, John Hackney, Jason Brackett, James Brackett; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Guinn Green officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Dill Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
