Marlene Raines, 71, of Old Fort went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 25, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Polk County and a member of Covenant Baptist Church, which was always a blessing to her. She never failed to tell everyone what a great service the church had. She was also, a prayer warrior who loved her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bertha Swafford. She is survived by her children, Rhonda Goforth of Benton and Lisa Sims and husband, Tony of Old Fort and Karen Hill and husband, Curtis of Old Fort; brothers, Harold Swafford of Copperhill, Lee and wife Lois Swafford of Cleveland; sister, Dianne Swafford of Cleveland; grandchildren, Samantha and Brandon Freeman, Alisha Sims, Anthony Sims and wife, Danielle, Amanda Hill and Kevin Hill; great-grandchildren, Bo Hill, Sawyer Hill, Keegan Sims, and Jayden Boccia; several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Shirley Bright. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Higgins officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
