Joseph Watson Gregory

Joseph "Joe" W. Gregory, 83, a lifelong resident of Benton, TN, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at his home. Joe was 83 years old and of the Baptist faith. He was the son of the late Ona Biggs Gregory and W. A. Gregory. He worked all his adult life in construction. He was happiest on a piece of machinery or on a Florida fishing trip with his buddies. Joe was a family man, loving his wife of nearly 50 years, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Price Gregory of the home; four children, Gail (Dale) McLead of Chattanooga, TN, James (Bo) Gregory of Benton, TN, Madge Gregory of Chattanooga and Joey (Cheryl) Gregory of Benton, TN; five grandchildren, Ashley (Chaz) Shuford, Jay Cox both of Chattanooga, TN, Chase, Austin and Mikel Gregory of Benton, TN; brother, D. P. Gregory of Benton, TN; sister, Jacquline Jenkins of Oak Ridge, TN; one brother-in-law Wendell (Karin) Price of Ocoee, TN; one sister-in-law, Virginia (David) Rollins of Cleveland, TN; several nieces, nephew, family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Rymer and Sheriff Steve Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the Cookson Creek Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the funeral home.
