Gearldine Bishop, 73, a lifelong resident of Benton, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at her home, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born October 21, 1940. She was the receptionist at Bishop Animal Hospital for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Welcome Valley Baptist Church until her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spence and Edith Pankey Bishop, and one brother Harold Otis Bishop. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Payne and husband, Earl and Mary Ann Bishop, both of Benton; brothers, Boyd Bishop and wife, Elizabeth and Frank Bishop and wife, Georgia Faye, all of Cleveland and Bobby Bishop, and wife, Nyokia, Kenneth Bishop and wife, Dee Dee Ralph Bishop and Dr. Terry Bishop and wife, Jennifer, all of Benton; seven nephews and five nieces; including special nephew, Spence Bishop. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Earl Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with nephews serving pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the funeral home.
