Michael Claude Sloan, 60, of Delano, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at his residence after a short illness. He was of Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time in the garage with friends, being in the mountains, boating, four-wheeling and vintage cars. He was the owner of Sloan construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Reed and Martha Roena Cagle Sloan; sister, Eva Sloan Long; brothers, Charles William "Bill" Sloan and John A. Sloan; brother-in-law, Paul Welch; nephew, Bobby Hill and nieces, Amanda Sloan and Debbie Sloan. Survivors include his son, Waco Sloan of Cleveland; daughter, Brandi Sloan Abrasley and husband, Brian of Tuscaloosa, AL; long-time companion, Mitzi Johnson of Delano; siblings, Roena Pettijohn of Delano, Mamie Storie and husband, Charlie of Maryville, Don Sloan and wife, Helga of Tarlboro, NC, Gail Welch of Madisonville, Janet Hudson and husband, Don of Clinton, Carolyn Sloan of Madisonville and Eddie Sloan and wife, Cindy of Benton; other surviving family members, Pat, Monica and Chris Pettijohn; Pam, Patricia and Michael Sloan; Steve and Gary Sloan; Tommy Welch, Vickie Cansler, Mitchell Nichols, Lisa Tate, and Matthew Sloan; special friends, Jody and Shelly Hyatt and their children, Mason Anderson, Skyla Hyatt and Jacob Husaver. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Robbie Combs officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
