Gerald E. "Jerry" Williams, 58, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. Gerald was educated as an engineer but suffered a car accident at the age of 24 that left him a paraplegic in spite of his disabilities he lived a full life and was loved by many. Mr. Williams was the son of the late Eugene E. Williams and Jessie Marie Tommie Dill Williams. He is survived by his brother, Doug Williams and wife, Karen of Old Fort; nieces, Kristie McLain and husband, Roy of Benton, Sandra Godsey and husband, Chris of Cleveland, and Angie O'Berry of Old Fort; nephews, Tommy O'Berry of Cohutta, GA, Jeremiah O'Berry and wife, Laura of Fort Campbell, KY; great nieces, Heather, Madeline, Summer; great nephews, Gage, Daniel and Ethan; and several aunts and cousins, including special aunt, Ruth Ann Shannon. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow in Dill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
