Mary Nell (Buck Eye) Hale

May 6, 1931 — August 28, 2013

Mary Nell (Buck Eye) Hale, 82, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her home. She was retired from the Polk County School Board after 27 years of service. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Atlanta Braves and the Tennessee Lady Vols. She was also a member of several bowling teams where she was a lead bowler. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.W. Hale and Etta Huckabey Hale; brothers, James (Jim) Hale, Hoyt Hale and Raymond Hale and nephew, Pat Jordan. She is survived by her sister, Lorene Jordan of Benton; nephews, Raymond Jordan and wife Phyllis of Benton, David Jordan and wife Ramona of Benton and Steve Hale of Chattanooga; nieces, Alice Jordan of Sweetwater, Virginia Raines of Benton, Mary Huckabee of Kimball and Emily Baker and husband Dan of Chattanooga; nine great-nieces and nephews and twelve great-great-nieces and nephews. Several friends and neighbors also survive. A graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Benton Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home prior to the service.
