L.B. Casey Hammons

L. B. "Casey" Hammons, 75, a lifelong resident of Benton, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at McMinn Memorial Healthcare. He was retired from the Forestry Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benson and Minnie Rymer Hammons; daughter, Linda Hammons; brothers, Frank Hammons and Wayne Hammons; and two infant sisters. He is survived by his wife, Betty Duckworth Hammons of Benton; children, Susan Jolley and husband, Marc of Macon, GA, Joe Hammons and wife, Bridgett of Riceville, Benson Hammons and friend, Christine Phillips of Polk County, Calvin Hammons and wife, Teresa of Old Fort and Burch Hammons and wife, Heather of Cummings, GA; step children, Carolyn Flanigan of Chattanooga, Jeannie Cuervo and husband, Bryan of McDonald and Gene Bagby of Cummings, GA; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and brother, Abie Hammons of Benton. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Campground Cemetery with the Reverend Steve Ross officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home.
