Ingrid Ann Buehler, long time owner/editor of the Polk County News, died of cancer Sep. 19 at her home in Reliance, Polk County. She was 68 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Toini Peltonen, and sister Katherine Griffin. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Randolph Buehler of Reliance; son Randy Buehler, Jr. and wife Denvia Laugel of Bellevue, Washington; daughter Cheryl Buehler of Delano; and granddaughter Kira Buehler of Bellevue, Washington; Sister-in-law Cheryl Heck of Perry Hall, MD; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born in Washington, DC, Ingrid moved with her family to Polk County in 1983 when she and her husband, Randy, purchased the Polk County News. Her career as a newspaper person began at Towson State College in 1964 and professionally spanned the period from 1974-2012. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. at the Polk County News office in downtown Benton. Donations to the American Cancer Society may be made in her honor in lieu of flowers. Those who wish to help her dream of community journalism stay alive are encouraged to renew their subscription or advertise in their local newspaper, wherever it might be.
