Patricia "Patty" Calhoun Duggan, 49, of Benton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 8, 2012. She was born on February 15, 1962 in Cleveland, OH to the late Charles and Loretta Lowe Calhoun. In 1979 she married the love of her life, the Reverend Tony Duggan. They spent 33 wonderful years together and had two daughters. She spent most of her life in Benton where she and her husband owned and operated a bait and tackle shop for many years. In addition to raising her family she was a loving and caring Nana. She enjoyed spending all of her free time with her three grandbabies, of which she adored. As a long time member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church, and more recently at Fellowship Baptist Church, she was active in creating the church's food bank. She had a special spot in her heart for helping others. Patty loved spending time on the lake fishing and camping. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but we will meet with her again in heaven. She is survived by her stepmother, Jean Calhoun of Murphy, NC; husband, Tony Duggan of Benton; daughters, Jennifer Beavers and husband, Jamie of Cleveland and Cynthia Chambers and husband, Eric of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Erica Chambers of Chatsworth, GA and Brayden and Avery Beavers of Cleveland; brothers, Chuck Calhoun of Cleveland, Jeff Calhoun of Old Fort and Shane Bryant of Benton; her precious mother-in-law, Linda Carney of Etowah; sister-in-law and best friend, Kathy Crumley Johnson of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul White, the Reverend Charles Moore and the Reverend Carl Haulk officiating. Interment will follow in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with her nephews, Josh Ledford, Justin Crumley, J.J. Calhoun, Dustin Crumley, Matt Johnson and Tyler Crumley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Teddy Underdown, and Daniel Underdown. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home.
