Oddisy "Ode" Walden, 85, a lifelong resident of Benton, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his home. He retired as a machine operator with Home Makers. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sidney Bell Walden; brothers, Floyd Walden, Charles Walden, Jay Walden and Ed Walden; and sister, Stella Bracrane. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Sue Shelton Walden of Benton; children, Larry K. Walden of Etowah and Beverly Fulton, Jeffery Trentham, Dean Myers, Charlene Helton and Scotty Trentham, all of Benton; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, John Walden of Athens; sister, Sue Bush of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul White and the Reverend Tony Duggan officiating. Interment will follow in Delano Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
