Leonard "Knot" Rogers, 82, a lifelong resident of Benton, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was mostly self-employed in several different businesses. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. During his service to our country he was a Prisoner of War and received many honors. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Rogers; son, Sammy Rogers; parents, Tom and Ida Seay Rogers; brothers, Ralph Rogers and Winston Rogers; and sisters, Juanita Cole, Rebecca Burris and Ruth Studdard. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Marisol Rogers of Benton; granddaughter, Heather Michelle Rogers of Chattanooga; one great granddaughter; sister, Hazel Stone and husband, Ray of Delano; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Tony Duggan and the Reverend Art Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with military honors. A white dove release will conclude the service.
