Larry "Hammer" Wayne Cross, 51, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his residence. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Williams Construction/Earthworks Quality Steel. He attended Tree of Life Ministries. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Estelene Cross; father-in-law, Bueron Young; and aunts and uncles, J.D. and Betty Pullin, Carlene Cross and Betty Pullin. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Cross; daughter, Amanda Cross and husband, Tracy; and granddaughter, Kaylan Duffy, whom he had a special bond with. She had her Papaw wrapped around her finger and his heart and she brought much joy and laughter to his life. She was known as his little loafering buddy and they shared many adventures. Other survivors include his brother, Garry Cross and wife, Nola; sisters, Lesia Cross and Patricia Dixon and husband, David; mother-in-law, Betty Young; aunts and uncles, Francis and Jessie Cross, Charles and Lucille Cross, Olen Cross, Jr., Nora Higgins, Faye Cosme, Brenda and Steve Farrar, Mae and Ben Chastain and George Pullin; sisters -in-law and spouses, Judy and Larry Robinson, Betty and Charles Gates, Wanda and Terry Richmond and Sondra and Tim Crowden; nieces and nephews, Heather Cross, Cassandra Bowman, Derrick Dixon, Melissa Robinson, Charles Atchley, Stephanie Atchley, Tanner Gates, Darrin Gates and Christopher Crowden; several great nieces and nephews and cousins; and special friends, Mike Montgomery, Jerry Scroggins, David Scroggins, Don Maples, Thomas Williams, Scott Ezell, Tigie Ellison, Warren and Vergie Oates; and many other special friends. At Larry's request there will be no viewing or service. A private gathering family and friends will be held later.
