On January 24, 2011, Cleo Cox stepped into the loving presence of our Savior. Cleo, 67, was a resident of Benton, TN and a native of Old Fort, TN. He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church where he served as a deacon of the church for 39 years. He attended Polk County High School. He held numerous employments during his lifetime including TVA, M&M Mars and Peytons and the County Road Department. He loved fishing. He was the son of the late J.T. and Pauline Cox. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Dalton Cox of Benton; one daughter, Lori Cox of Benton; one grandson, Luke Cox of Benton; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Iva Cox of Benton; three nephews: Tommy Cox and wife Sonya of Cleveland, Mitchell Cox and Eric Dalton both of Benton; one brother-in-law, Dwight "Coonie" Dalton; one extraordinary niece, Frances Cheatham and her husband, Keith Cheatham of Benton; one great niece, Shannon Cheatham of Benton; several great nephews: Brody and Brady Cox of Cleveland, Tyler Dalton and Isaac Cheatham of Benton. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery with Eric Dalton, Mark Presswood, Tyler Cheatam, Dalton Cheatam, Tommy Cox and Keith Cheatham serving as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers, Bud Locke, Eddie Bonnette, Mitchell Cox. His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the funeral home prior to the service.
