Samuel "Sammy" James Rogers, 50, a life time resident of Benton, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton. Sammy was an adored son and wonderful loving husband. He worked for years as a white water guide in Tennessee, West Virginia and Costa Rica (where he met his devoted and loving wife of seventeen years). He was a life long outdoorsman and had become a passionate riding mower racer. He loved life as well as people and never met a stranger. His kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Louise Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Marisol Vargas Rogers of Benton; father, Leonard "Knot" Rogers of Benton; daughter, Heather Michelle Rogers of Chattanooga. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Monday, November 8, 2010 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Jasper Woody officiating. His family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M. Monday, November 8, 2010 at the funeral home prior to the service.
