Annie Avenelle (Lillard) Ghorley, 86, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 in an Etowah healthcare facility. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Hilo Chair Factory. Mrs. Ghorley was the daughter of the late Floyd Lillard and Laura Alice Bates Lillard and was also preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Ghorley; daughter, Faye Cain; grandsons, Marvin Dale Ghorley, Jr. and Phillip Baxter; brothers, Earl and F.A. Lillard.; sister Reba Elaine Lillard. She is survived by her children: Dale and wife Peggy Ghorley of Reliance, Laura Hinkle of Cleveland, Ted and wife Faye Ghorley and Jane Atkins all of Cleveland; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Ross officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 in the Old Ocoee Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 at the funeral home prior to the service.
