Billy A. Bishop, 76, a lifetime resident of Benton, passed away in a local hospital Friday, May 14, 2010. He was a member of Old Ocoee Baptist Church. He owned and operated Bishop Manufacturing Company for over 25 years. He also owned and operated B&R Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Anderson and Willie Mae Couch Bishop. He is survived by his wife, Frances Bishop; children, Russell and wife Kelly of Old Fort, Dennis and wife Tracy of Benton, Dana Bishop and fiance Eric Fitch of Chattanooga, and Wade Bishop of Benton; three grandchildren, Samuel and Matthew Bishop of Old Fort, and Rebekah Bishop of Benton; one sister, Nellie Dill of Cleveland; and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Clyde Crook officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens with Carl Dill, David Dill, Boyd Bishop, E.L. Pankey, Charles Burris, and Joe Pankey serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16, 2010, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
