Anna Ruth Wilcox, 86, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at her home. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Those who knew Ruth will always remember her sense of humor, love for her family, friends and animals. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Curtis Wilcox; parents, Samuel Waldrop and Docia Ann Rogers Waldrop; brothers, Glen Oliver Waldrop and Audry Waldrop; half brothers, Biggs Waldrop and Parnick Waldrop; sister, Oma Fisher; and half sister, Willie Crabtree. She is survived by her children, Danny Wilcox and wife, Ann, Linda Wilcox and Betty Ann Wilcox, all of Benton; niece, Veta Jane Fisher of Ft. Meyers, FL; caregiver, Ginger Combs of Benton; and special friend, Ailene Wilcox of Benton. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton with the Reverend Joe Hatcher and the Reverend Art Thornton officiating. With Randy (Cotton) Evans, Larry (Diddle) Lewis, Roger (Mutt) Evans, Ronnie (Rabbit) Bates, Bennie (Burray) Rogers,and Frank Brannon serving as pallbears, honorary pallbeares: Clyde Price, Eugene (Bunk) Rogers, Johnny Rogers, and Steve Wilcox. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 at the funeral home.
