Mr. W.I.(Buster) Davis, age 96 of Conasauga, Tennessee passed away Saturday July 11, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born January 21, 1913 in Old Fort, Tennessee to the late Claud McCamy Davis and Vance Davis. Buster Davis graduated form Polk County High School in 1933 where he was chosen Captain of the 1933 football team. After a brief stint with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, he returned to the family farm in Conasauga. He married Dorothy Gilbert August 14, 1937 and the raised 4 children; John Davis, Douglas Davis, Joe Davis, and Ann Davis Harris. Survivors also include 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He served as Deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church and was very active in Polk County polities, serving 2 terms as County Court Clerk from 1974-1982. Mr. Davis was chosen Polk County High School Alumni of the Year in 2003. He received Recognition of Service from 1956-1979 with the Polk County Soil Conservation District and the Polk County Farm Bureau. Mr. Davis is known for his strong Christian faith and love of farming in Polk County. He is quoted as saying "There is no prettier country to live in than Polk County." Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 14, 2009 at 6 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Reverend Kinzel Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday July 14, 2009 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Ocoee, TN.
