Dennis Gregory Brooks, 61, of Delano, passed away on Thursday July 9, 2009 at his residence. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Delano Baptist Church. He was employed at Benton Shooter Supply. He was an active member of the Kentucky Mountain and Rocky Mountain Horse Associations, which are national organizations. He was responsible for bringing Rocky Mountain horses into East Tennessee. He was a very loved husband, father, grandfather and "cowboy". He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna Brooks of Delano; mother and step-father, Betty and Dr. Roy Couch of Brewton, AL; children, Jennifer Beck and husband, Keith of Marietta, GA, Brian Brooks of Benton, Matt Brooks and wife, Jennifer of Maryville; grandchildren, Jakob, Gavin, and Jaret Beck of Marietta, GA and Makayla Brooks of Benton; sisters, Susan Bryant and husband, Bruce of Clinton, MS and Nancy Peavy of Montgomery, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 11:00 am at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. Joel Jenkins and Bruce Bryant will officiate the service and Stan Fendley, Tommy Greene, Tom Adams, Randy Speegle, Jay Harper and Tim Kimsey will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton.
