Kenyard Carver, 80, of Old Fort, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 in a local hospital. He was retired from Volunteer Exterminating Company and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. He was also a 47 year member of the Conasauga Masonic Lodge #396. He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Carver; mother, Mary Jane Climer Carver; brother, J.P. Carver; and sisters, Peggy Morgan and Olene Rush. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine Baxter Carver; sons, Doug Carver and wife, Cheryl and Bryan Carver and wife, Debbie; grandson, Brandon Calhoun; granddaughters, Cayce Rountree and husband, Jeremy and Juliane Griggs; great grandchildren, Abigale Griggs and Asher Boyd. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 following a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Homer Roberts officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Dill Cemetery in Old Fort. Freddie Rush, Trony Brooks, Mickey Brooks, Al Bramlett, Gary Harris, and Brandon Calhoun will serve as pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Terry Baxter and Tyson Bramlett. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home prior to the services.
