Hugh M. McKissack, 89, a resident of Benton, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at a local hospital. He lived most of his life in this area as his family members were pioneer settlers of Polk County. He was a 50 year member of Ocoee Lodge 212 and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Benton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Huckabey McKissack; his parents, William (Billy) J. and Martha J. Clements McKissack; brothers, Cecil, Leland and Seaman; and sister, Annis Godfrey Lawson. He is survived by four sons, David McKissack and wife, Pam, Joseph McKissack and wife, Diana, all of Harriman, Doug McKissack of Kingston and Carl McKissack of Benton; one daughter, Betty Jane Boduch and husband, Dr. Thomas Boduch of Kingston; five grandchildren, Jody Easter and husband, Lance of Kingston, Andy McKissack and wife, Melissa of Lincoln, IL, Josh Voyles of Kingston, Beth Voyles of Crossville and Tony McKissack of Harriman; two great grandchildren, Landon and Logan Easter of Kingston; nephews, Bobby Godfrey and wife Mildred and Freddy Godfrey and wife, Sharon; niece, Mary Ann Dunn and husband, Ronald; and special friend, Edna Rogers. A Masonic service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately following with Reverend Don Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery in Benton. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 prior to the services at the funeral home.
