July 20, 1933 — February 23, 2009

Kattie Sue Fowler Martin, 75, a resident of Old Fort passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 in a local hospital. She was a member of Cookson Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Hardwick Clothes. She was the daughter of the late Troy and Suzie Wilson Fowler and was preceded in death by her husband Bill Martin and grandson William (Bo) Tom Martin. Survivors include her two daughters Kathy Martin of Cleveland and Mary Ruth Martin of Old Fort; one son and wife William (Sonny) and Janice Martin of Old Fort, one brother, Bill Brooks of Old Fort; two sisters: Louise Armstrong and Nola Martin both of Old Fort She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2009 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Carl Haulk officiating. Interment will follow in Cookson Creek Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Pallbearers will be Billy Evans, Jeffery Self, Marvin Hardin, Sonny Russell, Johnny Russell, Benjamin Martin and Scottie Martin. Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the funeral home.
