Don Alan Stone, age 57, a resident of Benton, went home to be with his Lord & Savior Saturday, November 25, 2006 at a Cleveland hospital. He fought a long a courageous battle until the very end. He accepted Jesus as his Lord & Savior at Old Ocoee Baptist Church at a very young age. He had been employed by Collins Manufacturing Co. and had retired from Honeywell after 24 years. He was an inspiration to his family and many close friends and will be sadly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; Clint Buck and Nora Lee Stone; his mother and father in law, Frank & Pauline Qualls; brother in law, Eddie Qualls.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Katy Stone; daughters, Meghaan and Jennifer Stone; bother, Terry Stone & wife Jeanie of Benton; sisters, Sandra Jenkins and husband R. L. of Old Fort, TN., Janice Headrick & husband Bruce of Dalton, Ga. Carolyn Elliot of Cleveland; sister in law, Brenda Efferd; brothers in law, Charlie & Danny Qualls; several special nieces and nephews as well as many close friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 29th at 11a.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Joel Jenkins officiating. Pallbearers will include Jeff Stewart, Mike Crye, Nick Hayes, James Reagan, Danny Near, and Charlie Qualls. Honorary Pallbearers will include Jim Hendren, Steve Jordan, Charles Kinser, Joe Kinser, Frankie Enriques, Bob Climer, David Burris, Charles Bain, Adam Strubhart, Johnny Thompson, and Scotty Bramlett. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery with a release of a flock of white doves concluding the service.

His family will receive friends from 6: 00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28th at the funeral home.
