Clayton Lewis Raines

Clayton Lewis Raines, age 51, a resident of Benton, passed away Monday January 2, 2006 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents J. P. and Pearl Lewis Raines; brothers: Paul Raines and Freddie Raines. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Raines was retired from Cleveland Utilities Water Department.
He is survived by one son, Clay Raines of Benton; four sisters and spouses: Mary Frances and Ralph Harris of Cleveland, Jane Green of Benton, Teresa and Sim Kibble of Ooltewah, and Jacqueline and Larry Gaston of Athens; five brothers and spouses: Charles and Carol Raines, Johnny and Patsy Raines, Roy and Regina Raines all of Benton, Ronny and Margie Raines of Monticello, GA and Don Raines of Ocoee; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 5, 2006 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the ceremony.
