Kenneth Moats, age 69, a resident of Benton, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 12, 2006 in a local hospital. He was a member of the Ocoee Baptist Church where he served as song leader. He was a member of the Ocoee Lodge # 212. Mr. Moats was the son of the late General and Elizabeth Lizzie Sisum Moats and was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Brenda Deal, brother-in-law, Alb Peters; brothers: Edward Moats and Arvil Moats.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Parris Moats of Benton; children: Debbie West and husband, Charles West of Cleveland and David Moats of Benton; step-children and spouses: Scott and Kila Parris of Cleveland, Dustin and Jennifer Parris of Georgetown, Holly Parris of Benton, Linda and David Ledford of Farner and Mistee and Jason Howard of Meigs County; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Audry Peters; three brothers and spouses: Clarence and Ruthie Moats, Sonny and Blanche Moats and G.W. and Joyce Moats all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend David Bowers and Reverend Eddie Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in Chestuee Baptist Church Cemetery with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
