Walter Lee McDonald Jr.

Walter Lee "Sonny" McDonald, Jr., 68, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at the family residence. He attended the Welcome Valley Baptist Church. He was retired from Hardwick Manufacturing.

Mr. McDonald was the son of the late Walter McDonald, Sr. and Marie Parks McDonald.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy McDonald of Benton; two children: Andy McDonald and wife Debra and Aaron McDonald all of Benton; five grandchildren: Jessica Roe of Cleveland, Amanda Cross of Cleveland, Andrew Cross of Benton, Heather McDonald of Benton and Tony McDonald of Benton; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Geraldine Warren of Benton and Christine Wood and husband Paul of Delano; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Welcome Valley Baptist Church with Reverend David Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Higgins Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends 1-2 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the church prior to the service.
