Charles Douglas Long Greek

Charles D. Long, 64, a resident of Benton, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 in a local hospital. Charles was better known as Greek' by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Long and Minnie Kate McDonald Long and brother, G.M. Long.

He is survived by his sister, Judy Cearley and husband, Steve of Benton, brother, Bob Long and wife, Barbara of Birmingham, AL; nieces: Beth Cearley, Kara Long, and Kristen Howell; nephews: Scott Cearley and Kevin Long; several great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Herron officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Ocoee Cemetery with Ronnie Prueitt, Doyle Patterson; Don Ledford, Don "Shorty" Ledford, J.M. Trentham and Gary McDonald servings as pallbearers. Leonard "Knot" Rogers and Burch Maynor will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the funeral home.
