James Lewis, Sr.

James David "Nelse" Lewis, age 64, a resident of Etowah, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 at his residence. He was a member of Delano Baptist Church. Mr. Lewis was the son of the late John Tap and Elizabeth Jane Padgett Lewis and was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Lewis and a sister, Mary Ellen Moore.

He is survived by his children and spouses: Jamie and Angie Lewis of Benton and Angie and Rocky King of Delano; a sister, Betty Lewis of Benton; four grandchildren: Nikki King, Pebbles King and Luke Skipper all of Delano and Brody Lewis of Benton; special friend, Betty Millsaps; brothers and spouses: Gene Lewis of Etowah, J.T. Lewis of Benton, Houston and Brenda Lewis of Maryville, Frankie Lewis of Benton and Larry and Brenda Lewis of Benton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Delano Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in the Delano Baptist Church Cemetery with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Steve Lewis, Buster Lewis, Jeremy Rose, Travis England, Tony Moore and David Lewis will serve as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home.
