Ruby Kirkland

Ruby Pauline Jones Kirkland, better known as Polly, went home to be with her Lord and Savior march 10, 2006. she was born in Polk County to the late Elmer H and Lona Lowe Jones of Turtletown, TN on November 14, 1923. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Willard Paul Kirkland of Reliance, TN and also by two brothers, L.E. Jones of Copperhill, TN and Bradley Jones of Turtletown, TN; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Wallace of Ducktown, TN, Gail Hedden of Copperhill, TN and Maxine Echerd of Geneva, Ohio.
Polly was a longtime member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend who loved everyone and saw only the good in others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved son, Willard Bruce Kirkland of Reliance, TN; two sisters, Louise Coleman of Epworth, GA and Ruby Kerruish of Cleveland, TN; two sisters-in-law: Minnie Price of Reliance, TN and Eunice Jones of Ducktown, TN; four brothers-in-law: Paul Coleman of Epworth, GA, George Kerruish of Cleveland, TN, Jim Echerd of Geneva, OH and Andy Price of Reliance, TN; her loving ex-daughter-in-law, Mildred Wattenbarger of Charleston, TN; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Higgins funeral Home with Reverend Steve Jones and Reverend Paul Gregg officiating. Interment will follow in Hiwassee Union Cemetery in Reliance, TN with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jones, Howard Cheek, Scottie Price, Eric Jones, Terry Satterfield and Jason Satcher. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
