John Henry Kersey

John Henry Kersey, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a member of Old Ocoee Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus Leonard Kersey and Katherine
Lockman Kersey; brothers: Leonard Kersey, Clyde Kersey and Frank Kersey; sisters: Pauline Swanson, Joyce Reed, Irene Ramsey, Eva Mae Smith and Berthie Duggan.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Jenkins Kersey of Cleveland; sons: Johnny Ray Kersey of Cleveland and Scottie Lynn Kersey of Cleveland; daughters: Deborah Jenkins of Benton, Vivian Jane Kersey of Cleveland, Sue Coffey of SC and Patsy Sawyer of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Cronan of Cleveland and Lois driver of Eustis, FL and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 27, 2008 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Sonny Moats and the Reverend Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Jenkins Cemetery in Old Fort with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
