Gerstel Joe Green

Gerstel Joe Green, age 68, lifelong resident of Polk County passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Erlanger Hospital. He was preceded in death by his son Joe Daniel Green and his parents George and Lorene Green.

He was survived by two loving daughters, Lori Stafford and husband Denny of Old Fort, and Lana Green of Cleveland. Granddaughter Kallen Stafford and grandson Jack Farner. Mother of his two daughters, Mary Green of Benton.
Also survived by brothers and sisters Marilyn Chestnutt, Nell Edwards, Emily Cummings, and S. N. Green of Cleveland, Kaye Steelman, Benton, Yvonne Nichols, Patsy Blankenship, Sue Ledford and Bill Green of Old Fort.

He was employed by Roadway Express for 25 years and retired in 2005. He lived his life by helping and caring for others.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Larry Rose, William Ledford, Willie Ledford, Len Bell, Thomas Bell, Matthew Rymer, Alex Cummings, and Kenny Frazier will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers make donations to Joe Daniel Memorial Fund to help children with hydrocephalus, in care of First Bank of Tennessee, P.O. Box 330, Benton, Tennessee.
