Clara Edna Green

Clara Edna Green, age 85, a life long resident of Polk County, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006 in a local nursing home. She was employed at J.H. Kellman Company for many years before her retirement. She was also a devoted member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for several years. She was also very active in working to establish and maintain a volunteer fire department in her community.

She was the daughter of the late John and Eliza Clayton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah L. Green and her son, Paul L. Green.

She is survived by three children and their spouses: Kenneth and Brenda Green of Cleveland, Fran and Jerry Stephens of Benton, Margaret and Ken Burgess of Cleveland; six grandchildren and their spouses: Dan and Gail Harrison of Benton, Mark and Denise May of Benton, Dr. Douglas and Pam Plumlee of Pulaski, TN, Kellie and Keith Guinn of Cleveland, Michael and Emily Burgess of Port Charlotte, FL and Jill Green of Chattanooga; one step grandchild, Jeff Brewer; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma Dobbins of Peoria, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2006 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Douglas Plumlee and Reverend David Moore officiating. Interment will be the following day, Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Greasy Creek Cemetery with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Pallbearers will include Ricky Black, Johnny Dunn, Kevin Bates, Dale Goforth, Scotty Price and Terry Satterfield.

Her family will receive friends Friday, October 6, 2006 starting at 4:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
