James "Bozo" Floyd, a life long resident of Polk County, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006 after a brief illness. He was born November 7, 1929 and was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing. He served in the United States Army serving from 1954-1956 and retired from Shering Plough. James was the son of the late Mary Graham Floyd and Jim Floyd and was also preceded in death by three brothers: W.R. Floyd, Dillard Floyd and Doyle Eugene Floyd; one sister, Peggy Watts.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Chloey Freeman Floyd of Benton Station; daughters and spouses: Angelia and James Tatum, Debra and Tommy Wilcox, Pam and Neil Spence; son and spouse: Michael and Shelley Ledford Floyd; grandchildren: Jason Wilcox, Mark Wilcox, Emily Spence, Nicholas Spence and Chloey Tatum; one brother, Winston Floyd; one sister, Louise Trew; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Neil Spence and Pastor Joel Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with Tommy Wilcox, Jason Wilcox, Mark Wilcox, Nicholas Spence, Bobby Burchfield and James German serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
