Thomas Bennett' Efford, 61, a resident of Benton, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in a Chattanooga hospital.
He attended Benton Station Baptist Church.
Mr. Efford supported his family through his musical talents in both singing and drum playing. He loved spending time with his granddaughters. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Melvin Efford and Mary Evelean Wright Efford; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Pauline Qualls; and brothers-in-law, Mike Hays, Eddie Qualls and Don Stone.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Qualls Efford; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Sheila Efford; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Hoss Cochran; granddaughters, Harlie and Chloe Cochran; sister, Joyce Hays; nephew, Shawn Hays; sister-in-law, Katy Stone; brothers-in-law and wives: Charlie and Jennifer Qualls, Danny and Gail Qualls and their families; and many friends and fellow musicians.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Joel Jenkins, Reverend Steve Ross, Reverend Kirk Benson officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery with Jack Holland, Benny Hall, Eddie Miller, Bobby Edwards, Larry Carter, Monty Swann, Larry Harris and Nick Hays serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
