Helen Swafford Dalton, age 85, of Benton, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007 in a Knoxville hospital. She was a beloved long time member of Mt. View Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Benton Manufacturing Company. She loved to fish, watch the food network, garden and can with her family.
She was the wife of the late Emmitt E. Dalton and was also preceded in death by her mother, Bertha T. Swafford, her father, Jarett Swafford , her granddaughter, Shannon Dalton, her sister, Ethelen Hamby and her brother, Oliver Swafford.
She is survived by daughter, Dot Cox and husband, Cleo Cox; son, Dwight "Cooney" Dalton and wife Linda Dalton; grandchildren: Eric Dalton, Frances Cheatham and husband Keith Cheatham and Lori Cox all of Benton; four great-grandchildren: Tyler Cheatham, Dalton Cheatham, Shannon Cheatham and Isaac Cheatham; brothers: Albert "Curly" Swafford of Benton, Buddy Swafford of Old Fort; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Stacey Monger officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
