Celia A. Clayton Couch, 96, of Benton, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 in a local hospital. She was born in Polk County on December 4, 1911. She was a member of the Old Ocoee Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas A. Clayton and Nora Bell Bain Clayton; husband, Clyde Couch; son, Clyde A. Couch and two grandsons, Gary Johnson and Jesse Couch.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law: Elaine Couch (Clyde) of Philadelphia; four daughters: Mary Alene Johnson of Murphy, NC, Alice A. Thompson (Henry) of Benton, E. Kay Rumpel (Hank) of Benton and Janice Penny Keith of Las Vegas, NV; two sons: Leon Couch (Dorothy) of Benton and Kenneth Vance Couch of Arizona; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend David Qualls officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Ocoee Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the funeral home.
