Betty Mae Clark

May 29, 1934 — October 3, 2006

Betty Godfrey Clark, age 72, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2006 in a local hospital. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Benton.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very special and thoughtful person always wanting to put everyone before herself. She wanted the best for her children and grandchildren and spent her life making sure they had more than she did. She adored and was so proud of them. She enjoyed life and even in the worst of times she still had a positive outlook on life, a smile on her face, and a story to tell. Her stories and the memories we've made will hold a special place in our hearts and will be cherished always. Thank you for everything Nanny. We love you and we'll miss you.

She was a graduate of Polk County High School and the National School of Business. She was employed with the Federal Government for 35 years and had retired in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dewey and Muriel Godfrey, brother, Wayne Godfrey and husband, Cecil A. Clark.

She is survived by her two daughters and spouses: Teri and James Hopper of Brea, California and Margaret and Ricky Bryan of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Megan Bryan and Haley Bryan both of Cleveland and Lynsey Hopper of Brea, California; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Don Whitehead, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, officiating and Bart Borden will conduct the Eulogy. Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Benton Memorial Gardens with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Jim Clark, Jerry Clark, Tommy Guthrie, Harold Presswood, Jason Campbell and Steve Campbell will serve as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Clark family guestbook at www.higginsfuneral.com.
