Luola Brackett, age 85, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 in an Athens healthcare facility. She was a long time member of Blue Ridge Temple Baptist Church since joining in 1937. She was a retired seamstress with American Uniform. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Brackett and Ora Baxter Brackett and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edith Stafford, Adell Richards, Ada Dunn, Nannie Wilson, Lealous Cochran, Migie Brackett, Clyde Brackett and Callie Brackett.
She is survived by her son, Tony Brackett of Cleveland; two granddaughters, Sabrina Brackett and Tina Brackett both of Cleveland; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lorene Brackett and husband, Edsel Beavers of Old Fort. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Parm and Reverend Melvin White officiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland Shed Cemetery with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Rueben Brackett, Jimmy Brackett, Leon Beavers, Steve Beavers, Don Stafford and Triston Evans will serve as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
