Abbie Mae Russell, 92, a life-long resident of Benton, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021, at a Chattanooga healthcare facility.
She was born on March 1, 1929, to the late Abe Russell and Dovie Stewart Nichols in Benton, Tennessee. A beloved mother, daughter, sister and most importantly friend to many who loved watching wrestling, she loved life to the fullest and cherished every moment spent with family.
In addition to her parents, Abbie was also preceded in death by her son, Fleaston Russell; siblings, Junebug Russell, Jr., Johnny Nichols, Richard Nichols and Ethelene Nichols.
Left to cherish memories include her beloved children, Jake Russell and John Henry (Debra) Russell; daughter-in-law, Sue Russell; grandchildren, Mike (Maria) Pike, Ray Russell and Sonny Russell; many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12-noon on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Jerry Herron officiating. Interment will follow at Old Ocoee Cemetery with Rick Bridges, Bo Blackwell, Ethan Boyd, Nicholas Boyd and Matthew Hall serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12-noon on Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
