Connie Jo “PeeWee” Dalton Carroll, 73, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on June 7, 2024, at Bradley Healthcare & Rehab Center.
“PeeWee” was born in Athens, Tennessee, to the late James “Jimmy” and Bertha Louise “Potsy” Bradford Dalton. She is the granddaughter of the late Charles Marion and Emma Bessie Long Bradford.
Connie “PeeWee” attended Dempsey Beauty and Cosmetology School and had a special talent for creating gourmet cakes. She enjoyed animals and was an aviculturist, having over 300 exotic birds at one point, with her favorite bird being the Red Cardinal. Throughout life, Connie was a member of the Southeast Tennessee Aviculture Society and taught Sunday school and Bible school at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Pelham, Georgia. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, singing and fishing but her favorite pastime was talking on the phone with friends and family.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Gordon Carroll; two brothers, Ricky Dalton and Buster Dalton; one sister, Faye Qualls Trentham; special uncles and aunts; Gilbert and Stella Mae Duggan, and Bobby and Ruby Bradford.
Left to cherish many memories include her five children, Mark (Malinda) Robbins, Frankie Irvin, Rena’ (Leslie) Clark, Leon (Melinda) Glenn, and Lauren Glenn (Richard Dye); one step-daughter, Christy Ashworth; fourteen grandchildren, Mathew (Kayla) Robbins, Lynn Clark, Haley (Shawn) Highsmith, Holly (Michael) Wynn, Joanie (Jared) Dollar, Shana (Connor) Reynolds, Kayla Johnson (Justin Coatney), Cameron Johnson, Perry Glenn, Rosie Glenn, Barron Glenn, Gauge Glenn, Kota Dye, and Kylynn Dye; twelve great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Robbins, Eve Logue, Charlie Ray Clark, Tripp Highsmith, Eleanor Wynn, Nirvana Muliford, Malakhi Dollar, Cabry Dollar, Finley Dollar, Harper Reynolds, Callaway Reynolds, and Gatlin Swain; siblings, Charlie (Sandi) Dalton, Michael (Melissa) Dalton, and Cathy Dalton (Chris) Barnes. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service on the front lawn of the funeral home.
