Donald Richard Noyes, 89, of Benton, departed this life peacefully at his home, on December 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18, 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Ms. Myrtle Sophia Courage, and the late Mr. Alden Kimball Noyes. At an early age, Don began to learn the basics of life and responsibilities one must carry to survive and be prosperous. Upon graduation from high school, Don gained a passion for serving others and protecting those he loved the most, which guided him to serving and helping to prevail over enemy forces with the United States Army during some of the toughest times of war in Korea and Vietnam. A few of his fondest memories include the many hours he would spend watching and feeding the countless number of birds that visited frequently. Sunday drives to Georgia for lottery tickets were top on the list, which included a guaranteed visit to the bank to chat with "the girls". A facetious man he was, Don was the number one patron of the former Lottie's Diner (now, Gg's Restaurant), a laugh over a hot cup of coffee was assured. He later found great joy in taking his scooter for a ride up and down the street and would always have a great conversation with his many friends at the D.P.B. Aside from always making sure to enjoy each day gifted, one of his greatest joys in life was the many visits from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a beloved son, Paul Noyes and Timothy James “TJ” Bean. Left to cherish the many memories include his devout and faithful wife of 35 years, Mrs. Mary Ellen Croll Noyes; children, Cyndi Calvo, Aaron Noyes, Lawrence (Robin) VanCor, Richard VanCor, Laurie (Greg) Bayse, Kathleen "Kathy" Genest, Mary (Guy) Demag, Robert "Bob" (Hope) Bean, and Amy Beth (Sharon) Bean. A Celebration of Life service with military honors will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton. Family and friends will gather from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.HigginsFuneral.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
