Edna Earl Burchfiel Daugherty

April 5, 1926 — September 1, 2019

Edna Earl Burchfiel Daugherty went to be with her Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, September 1, 2019 with her family and friends at her side.

She grew up in Polk County and graduated from Polk County High School in 1943 seventy six years ago.  Edna was always an avid reader.  Her mother often found her reading when she should have been doing chores.  Mom looked forward to going to Shiloh Church every Sunday where she was a member for over sixty years.  She taught the adult women’s Sunday school class for years and continued to teach when needed until her death.  Edna loved to sing in the church choir for many years and then listening to the beautiful hymns sung by the choir.

Edna enjoyed drawing and painting pictures.  She was an excellent seamstress and made clothes for herself and daughter.  She enjoyed and appreciated the beauty and splendor of nature that God provides us by watching humming birds, butterflies, beautiful sunsets, flowers blooming and the colors of the changing seasons.

Mother loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them, eating out and going places with them.

Ms. Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Daugherty; parents, Arnold and Jesse Louella Burchfiel; siblings, Naomi “Bug” (Frank) Howard, Ann Atkins, Pat Johnson, Ruth Kilpatrick, Grace Dixon, Regina Cox, William Burchfiel and Andy Burchfiel; son-in-law, Mike Crye.

Left behind to cherish her memories include her daughter, Sandra Kay Crye; son Samuel W. (Rhonda) Arms Jr.; brother, Bobby (Jean) Burchfiel; grandson, Timothy Scott (LaRhonda) Arms; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Arms (Tim Bruns); great-granddaughter, Savannah Cheyenne Arms; great-great-grandson, Caleb Scott Arms; special friends, Tim Crye, Terri Ford, Patsy McClure, Linda Graham and many others.  Several precious nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Kenzil Hooker and Pastor Charlie Campbell officiating.  A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Jeff Burchfiel, David Cox, Albert Howard, Tim Bruns, Buddy McClary and Melvin Davis serving as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
