Edna Ross Howard, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on February 14, 2024, with her family at her side.
She was born on January 31, 1949, in Cleveland, TN, to the late Chester L. and Netty Dellavina Guthrie Ross.
Throughout life, Mrs. Edna was known to be loving and accepting of all she knew from her time as a secretary at the local bank, opening accounts for “everyone in Polk County” for more than 20 Years.
She was a 1967 graduate of Bradley Central High School and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Edna sang in her church choir since her youth and graduated from Tennessee School of Beauty. A beautician in Polk County since 1970, she owned and operated Ocoee Beauty Salon since 1995.
In addition to her parents, Chester and Netty Guthrie Ross, she was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Marla Howard; one sister, Leuna Young; one brother, Reece Ross.
Left to cherish the many memories include her loving husband of 53 years, Albert Howard; a cherished son, Robby (Amy) Howard; brothers, Lee (Sue) Ross, Lonnie (June) Ross, and Mack Ross (Susan Hunt); sisters, Melba (Donald) Haney, and Mildren Wilson. Generations of adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Andrew Sibley officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
