Edna M. Owens

Edna M. Owens, 89, of Reliance, departed this life peacefully on October 28, 2022.

She was a dedicated resident of the Greasy Creek community and developed many friends and neighbors.  Ms. Owens was a faithful member of Archville Baptist Church, where she had been a member since it started. 

A few of her fondest memories and hobbies included canning and gardening, cooking on her cast iron stove, and spending countless hours with her family that was always dear to her heart.  Her little dog was her constant companion.

In addition to her parents, Ollie and Onnie McGill, she was preceded by her husband, Eskel Owens, daughter, Ellavee Marie Wilson; grandson, Derrick Wilson; and brother, Cliff McGill.

Those left to cherish the many memories include her grandchildren and their families, Amy and Mark Tankersley, and Jake Tankersley, Chad and Christa Wilson and Riley and Tyler Wilson; granddaughter in law, Vickie Wilson; grandson, Timmy Wilson; great-grandchildren, Joseph Wilson, and Carmen Wilson; son-in-law, Winston Hoyle Wilson; sisters, Essie (Gary) Casper, and Rachel Shultz; great-niece and nephew, Tabitha and Walter Masey; great-great-niece and nephew, Katrina and Eli Masey.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Wilfred Wright officiating.  Interment will follow at Archville Baptist Church Cemetery, with her family serving as pallbearers.

Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
